Wang Mansheng’s ‘Mind Landscape’
Wang Mansheng (b. 1962) was born in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, where he began his study of calligraphy and painting at the age of seven.
Following graduation in 1985 from the Chinese Department of Shanghai’s Fudan University, where he majored in classical literature, Wang worked for over a decade as an editor, director and producer at China Central Television in Beijing, producing documentaries on the art and culture of China and Tibet. In 1996, he moved to New York and has since devoted himself to painting and calligraphy. Influenced by his training and interest in the Chinese classics, his paintings often reflect the scholar landscape tradition – not only a way of reconnecting to his homeland, but also a way of expressing his cultivated and creative inner spirit.
